Mala Beads
A hundred and eight beads for counting a mantra, strung in Ahmedabad and imported direct. The mala is the rosary of Hindu and Buddhist practice, used for japa: one bead per repetition of a mantra, round to the larger guru bead where the count begins and ends, and 108 is the sacred number of the tradition. Ours are strung from a single gemstone each, in amethyst, rose quartz, lapis, tiger's eye, green aventurine, black agate, jade and clear rock crystal, with 6 to 8mm beads on a strand of 60 to 80cm. Worn long as a necklace, wrapped several times at the wrist, or kept in a pouch for practice. Choose the stone for its meaning in crystal practice, or for the one you want to hold for twenty minutes a day. Each product page explains the stone and how a mala is used.
