Birth Chart — Your Cosmic Core

Your Sun & Moon

Your Sun is who you are; your Moon is how you feel. Enter your birthday — add a time for a more precise Moon.

The stones for your sign

Your chart gives you a Sun sign — each one has its own stones, birthstone and reasons why.

Sun, moon and the rest

What your birth chart is telling you

A birth chart is a map of where the planets stood at the moment you were born, drawn from a date, a time and a place. Most people know their sun sign and nothing else — which is a shame, because the sun is the part of you that is easiest to see anyway.

Sun, moon and rising — the difference

Your sun is who you are when you are being deliberate: your character, your drive, the thing you are working towards. Your moon is what happens when you are not performing — how you feel, what soothes you, what you need at the end of a hard week. Your rising sign, or ascendant, is the mask at the door: how strangers read you before you have said anything. The three rarely match, and the gap between them is usually the most interesting thing on the chart.

Do you need your exact birth time?

For your sun sign, no — the sun stays in one sign for about a month, so a date is enough unless you were born on a cusp day. For the moon, it matters. The moon changes sign roughly every two and a half days, so a birthday alone can leave you between two answers. A time narrows it. For a rising sign you need the time and the place, because the ascendant shifts every two hours. If you do not know yours, a UK birth certificate often carries it, and if not, midday is the usual compromise.

Where to go from your sun sign

Once you have it, each sign has its own stones for reasons that go back centuries — the twelve links above open those pages. If you would rather work from how you feel than from a birthday, the crystal quiz gets there in five questions, and the life path calculator reads the same birthday a different way.
