Clear Quartz Meaning, Uses & Care

Clear quartz — also sold as rock quartz or rock crystal, all the same stone — is the plainest and most abundant crystal in the trade, and the tradition treats that as its strength. The old name for it was simply "crystal": the Greeks thought it was ice frozen too hard to melt.

What clear quartz is used for

Its reputation is as an amplifier: whatever intention you bring, it makes louder. That makes it the general-purpose stone — paired with other stones to boost them, used alone for focus and clarity, and cut into wands, points and spheres more than any other mineral. Every chakra list claims it, which tells you something.

A point or obelisk on a desk is the classic use. If you work with several stones, one clear quartz alongside them is the traditional multiplier.

How to care for it

Cleanse often — it absorbs and amplifies everything. It is hard, stable and happy in water — one of the few stones with no care warnings at all. Cleanse it often though: the tradition says it absorbs everything around it.
