Strung in Ahmedabad and imported direct
A mala of 108 amethyst beads, strung in Ahmedabad and imported direct. The mala is the rosary of Hindu and Buddhist practice: 108 beads for counting a mantra through a full round, with a larger guru bead where the count begins and ends. These beads are 6 to 8mm, so the whole strand runs 60 to 80cm and can be worn long as a necklace, wrapped three or four times at the wrist, or kept in a pouch for practice. The amethyst varies from pale lilac to deep purple along the strand, because each bead is cut from natural stone. Tradition holds the mala in the right hand and moves it with the thumb, never crossing the guru bead. Amethyst is the stone of calm and clear thought, which makes this the classic meditation mala.
Amethyst beads, 108 plus guru bead. Beads 6 to 8mm, length 60 to 80cm. Weighs 54g. From Ahmedabad, India.
