The Coffee and Walnut votive from Agnes and Cat: 200g of hand-poured natural soy wax in a small glass jar, scented with freshly brewed coffee and soft, nutty undertones, grounding and a little indulgent without turning sweet. The votive is the size for a bedside, a bathroom shelf, a desk or a dinner table, where the full Kilner jar would be too much, and it is the size people buy to try a scent before committing to the big jar. Soy wax burns more slowly than paraffin, so a 200g votive gives far more hours than its size suggests, and it burns clean, without soot on the glass, releasing the fragrance gently over the evening rather than all at once. Made in small batches in Yorkshire. Let the first burn reach the edge of the jar so it does not tunnel, and trim the wick between burns.
