Ring it at the quarters or to settle a room before work
A solid brass altar bell with an openwork pentagram for its handle, 10.5cm tall and polished bright, with a clear, resonant chime that carries across a room. The bell is one of the quieter tools of a working altar: rung to open and close a ritual, to mark the quarters, to clear the air of a room before work begins, or simply to call attention at the start of a meditation, and the pentagram, the five-pointed star of the four elements and spirit, marks this one for a Wiccan or witchcraft practice. Brass is the traditional bell metal because it rings true and does not tarnish quickly, and at 50g this one has enough weight to ring cleanly and sit steady. Handcrafted in India by brass workers who have cast bells for temples for generations, so the finish varies slightly piece to piece. A small, inexpensive, long-lasting tool, and a good first altar piece.
Solid brass, polished. 5 x 5 x 10.5cm. Weighs 50g. From India.
