Amber incense in bulk: a 500g pack of roughly 450 sticks, each 25cm long, highly fragranced and individually coloured, made in India for shops, studios and households that burn incense every day. Amber in incense is the warm, sweet, slightly powdery resin accord, the smell of a church, a souk or an old coat, and it is one of the most comforting scents there is, the one to burn through a winter. The sticks are the long 9 inch size, so each burns for the best part of an hour, and buying by the half kilo brings the price per stick down to pennies, a fraction of what the same incense costs in 20-stick packs. The sticks are bamboo cored with a wood and joss powder paste, coloured so the fragrances can be told apart in a jar. Store the pack sealed and dry and it keeps its scent for a year or more.
