Apple cinnamon incense in bulk: a 500g pack of around 450 sticks, each 25cm long, highly fragranced and individually coloured, made in India. The scent is sweet baked apple over cinnamon, the kitchen in late autumn, and it is the bulk incense that sells from October to January in shops and burns through the winter at home; a stick in the hallway makes a house smell of baking before anyone has baked. The 9 inch sticks burn for the best part of an hour each, and the half-kilo pack brings the per-stick price down to pennies, far below the 20-stick packs of the same incense, so market stalls, studios and daily burners buy this way. Bamboo cored with a wood and joss powder paste, coloured so the four bulk scents can be told apart in a jar. Keep the pack sealed and dry and the scent holds for a year or more.
