The large oval pebble from the Ceramic Zen range, in matt black. The shape is taken from a smooth beach stone, with the centre cut wide open so the tea light shows from the front and its glow spills onto the surface below. The dish on top takes fragrance oil on water or a wax melt, and the warmth from the tea light lifts the scent into the room.
Matt black is the finish for a modern or monochrome room. It hides fingerprints and ash, and it makes the burner read as a piece of sculpture when nothing is lit, which is most of the time. The large dish holds enough for an evening without topping up.
At 10cm tall and 314g it sits steadily on a sideboard, a bathroom shelf or a bedside. It is the darker twin of the speckled off-white pebble in the same size.
