The oval pebble oil burner in matt black is the same smooth stone shape as the off-white one, but the deep matt finish turns it into something more deliberate: a dark, sculptural object that the tealight shines out of. The centre is cut wide open, so the flame is visible from the front and the light spills onto the surface it sits on, and the dish above takes fragrance oil on water or a wax melt. It is a modern burner, the one for a room with black fittings, concrete or dark wood, and at 300g it sits firmly without taking up much space. The matt glaze hides fingerprints and wipes clean once cool. Use it on a heatproof surface and keep water in the dish while a tealight is burning.
