A charcoal incense jar in burgundy brass with gold patterns, handmade in India, in the colour of the root chakra, the first energy centre, placed at the base of the spine and read in the chakra system as stability, security and standing firm. The jar is the proper way to burn resin: a charcoal disc goes on the removable grate, a pinch of frankincense, copal, dragon's blood or any loose resin goes on the disc, and the ash falls through the grate into the container below, so the jar stays clean and the resin burns evenly. It is 7.7cm tall, 95g, and small enough for a desk or a bedside altar. In practice it is used for grounding work and for root chakra meditation, and the seven colours of the range are collected one at a time. Incense burners get very hot; stand it on a heatproof surface and let it cool before emptying.
Brass, burgundy enamel with gold pattern, removable grate. 3 x 7.7cm. Weighs 95g. From India.
