The 20cm crystal ball, the largest we stock, cast in K9 optical glass, the clarity grade of a camera lens, and supplied on its own display stand. A sphere of perfectly clear glass has nowhere to hide a flaw, and at 20cm a flaw is almost inevitable in casting, so most are discarded and the ones that pass are expensive; this is a piece of glassmaking as much as an object. It holds an entire room inverted inside it and, in sun, throws a spot of light bright enough to mark the table, so it lives away from a south window. It is bought for shop windows, for serious scrying tables, for photographers who want the inverted-image shot at full size, and as the single statement object on a mantelpiece or a hall table. Hand-finished in China, where large-scale glass casting is a speciality, and foam-packed in a protective box.
