A grade is a colour grade. Amethyst runs all the way from washed-out lilac to deep royal purple, and these come from the top end of that range: rich, saturated and polished across the top faces, with the sides left natural so the stone shows from every angle.

The bases are cut flat, so the points stand unaided and gather easily on a mantelpiece, a shelf or a windowsill — line them up by height, or set them as the anchors of a grid. Amethyst is loved for its calming appearance and is associated in crystal practice with calm and intuition, which is why it ends up in so many quiet rooms.

You receive five or six pieces, 0.7kg in total, in a pack of roughly 14 x 14 x 7cm, which works out cheaper than picking up the same stones individually. Keep them out of direct sunlight, as amethyst can fade under UV.
