Organic geranium essential oil in the 50ml practitioner size, steam-distilled in Egypt from the leaves, stalks and flowers of Pelargonium graveolens, the rose-scented geranium that reached Europe from South Africa, Madagascar and Reunion in the seventeenth century. The scent is strongly floral, close to rose, with a green edge of mint and apple under it, and it is the oil that aromatherapists reach for when a blend needs balancing: it rounds off citrus, softens herbs and stretches a small amount of rose a long way. In aromatherapy tradition geranium is the oil of balance and lift, used in massage blends, baths and diffusers, and it is one of the most useful oils to own because it goes with almost everything.
