Give your restless mind a creative break without having to learn an instrument

A thumb piano carved from a whole coconut shell in the shape of a turtle, handmade in Indonesia and worked in a dark antique finish, so it passes for an ornament when nobody is playing it.

The shell is what gives it a voice. Pluck a tine with a thumbnail and the hollow behind it opens the note out into something round and slightly woody, closer to a music box than a toy, which a flat board never manages. The metal tines are tuned, so you can pick it up with no training whatsoever and still sound like you know what you are doing.

Every shell is different, so markings and tone vary from piece to piece. Light enough to take to the park or pack for a holiday, and a quiet thing to have within reach after a long day.

Handmade in Indonesia. Size: approx. 25 x 17 x 8cm. Weight: 395g.
