Twenty centimetres of tree rising from raw mineral
An Indian gemstone tree of 160 moss agate chips hand-wired onto metal branches and mounted on a base of gemstone rock, 20.5cm tall and 300g. Moss agate is the gardener's stone of crystal practice, clear chalcedony with green mineral dendrites branching through it like weed in a pond, read as growth, patience and new beginnings, and it makes the most convincing tree of all the stones because every chip already looks like a leaf. It is the tree given to someone starting a garden, an allotment, a business or a family, and it stands on a kitchen windowsill as naturally as on a desk. The branches bend to arrange, the rock base is a rough chunk of real mineral, and the whole thing is handmade in India from natural stone, so the green and the base vary from tree to tree. The maker's idea is a gem forest: one tree per stone, lined up, none of them needing water.
Moss agate chips, metal wire branches, gemstone rock base. 8 x 4 x 20.5cm. Weighs 300g. From India.
