An Indian gemstone tree of 160 mixed gemstone chips hand-wired onto metal branches and mounted on a base of gemstone rock, 20.5cm tall and 300g, with a different stone on every branch: amethyst, aventurine, carnelian, rose quartz, lapis, tiger's eye and more, so the canopy reads as a rainbow. It is the tree for someone who cannot choose a stone and for a child learning to name them, and in crystal practice a mixed tree is placed where a room wants a little of everything, which usually means a hallway or a family room. The rock base is a rough chunk of real mineral, the branches bend gently so the canopy is arranged rather than fixed, and the tree is handmade in India from natural stone, so the mix varies from one to the next. On its own it is a colourful desk piece; beside the single-stone trees it is the one that ties a gem forest together.
