The 15cm natural selenite tower, the tall one, cut from a single piece of Moroccan selenite with its fibrous surface left natural. At this height the glow does its best work: light enters at the base and travels up the fibres, so the whole tower looks lit from inside when a lamp or a window is behind it. It weighs around 350g, enough to stand firmly on a shelf, a mantelpiece or the centre of a crystal grid. Each tower has its own grain and the occasional natural flaw, which is how you know it is cut and not cast. Selenite takes its name from Selene, the moon goddess, and crystal practice uses it as the stone that clears others; a tall tower is the one kept on a dresser with the day's jewellery around it. Keep it dry.
