Ten amber backflow cones from Aromatika, in a hexagonal box. A backflow cone has a hollow core, so once the tip is lit the cooled smoke falls out of the base rather than rising, and a backflow burner turns that falling smoke into a slow waterfall that pours down its ledges. An ordinary cone on a backflow burner just smokes upwards, so these are the cones that make the burner work.
Amber is the warm, resinous, slightly sweet scent of the range, comforting rather than floral, and the one to burn on a winter evening. The cones are masala made, with the fragrance worked into a paste of herbs and resins rather than sprayed on afterwards, so the smoke is heavier and holds its shape as it falls.
Burn one at a time on a heatproof mat, away from varnished wood.
