Copal resin on a stick. Copal is the tree resin of Central America, burned by the Maya and still used across Mexico to cleanse a space, and its smoke is sweet, woody and earthy with a clean, bright edge. It is the resin to burn before a ritual or a meditation, to clear a room and ground it at the same time.
Each pack holds eight sticks of about 20cm, and each burns for fifty to sixty minutes. The resin is pressed onto the stick, so there is no charcoal disc to light: light the tip, let it catch, blow out the flame and stand it in a holder or a dish of sand, with the ash falling onto something fireproof. They are handmade in India and come in sustainable packaging; store them somewhere dry.
It pairs with the copal white masala sticks for the same resin in a lighter form.
Incense. 8 sticks of about 20cm. 6 x 2 x 23cm. Weighs 44g. From India.
