The apex of an altar or the centre of a grid
The large pencil point selenite tower: a column of Moroccan selenite cut to a four-sided taper, so it rises to a point rather than stopping flat. The cut faces are cleaner than on the natural towers, and they catch light in bands up the length of the stone, drawing the eye upward to the tip.
Selenite takes its name from Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, and the way its milky fibres carry light explains why. It is a soft, translucent form of gypsum, so keep it dry and dust it with a cloth rather than washing it. In crystal practice it is the cleansing stone, linked with the crown chakra, and it is often used to clear other crystals placed beside it.
It is the tower for the centre of a crystal grid, the apex of an altar, or a tall shelf where a natural tower would look too raw.
Selenite. 4 x 17cm. Weighs 460g. From Morocco.
