A holiday flower to wear long after the holiday
Frangipani earrings in silver and abalone shell, handmade in Indonesia, where the frangipani is the temple flower, dropped in offerings every morning and tucked behind the ear. Each flower is five petals of abalone set into a silver surround, the shell flashing blue-green and violet as it catches the light, with a silver centre. The earrings are 3.5cm across and weigh 7g the pair, on hook fittings, which makes them easy to wear with hair up or down. Frangipani stands for welcome, devotion and new beginnings across Bali and Hawaii, and this is the pair most often bought to mark a trip, a wedding or a move. Balinese silversmiths have inlaid shell into silver for generations and these come from those workshops, cut and set by hand, so no two pairs have quite the same colours in the shell. Boxed for giving.
Silver and abalone shell, hook fitting. 3.5 x 2cm. Weighs 7g the pair. From Indonesia.
