A small solid brass altar bell, 7cm tall, engraved around its body with the Flower of Life, the pattern of overlapping circles carved at Abydos in Egypt and found in temples across the ancient world as the symbol of creation and the connectedness of all living things. The bell gives a clear, light, uplifting chime, higher than the larger bells on the shelf, and it is the size for a small altar, a desk, a meditation cushion or a bag, so it is the one bought for travelling practice and for children's first altars. Rung to begin and end a meditation, to clear a room or to mark a moment in ritual, it does the same job as the big bells at a third of the price.
