A 16 inch shaman drum with a dragon painted across its skin, on an acacia wood frame with a leather head, a tuning system and its beater. The dragon is the spirit of power, transformation and the fire that changes things, and the drum is built for the rhythms that go with it: a large head that gives deep, grounding resonance when struck softly and a sound that fills a room when struck hard, with the kind of sustain that makes a drumming circle breathe together. The tuning system is what sets it apart from a plain frame drum: the skin can be tightened or slackened as the weather changes, so the note stays true in a damp hall and a hot studio alike. It is used for meditation, ceremony, sound healing and drumming circles, and it hangs on a wall as a painted object between sessions. At 873g it is easy to hold. Made in Indonesia.
