A painted leather wall piece whenever it is not being played
A 16 inch shaman drum with the eagle painted on its skin, built on an acacia wood frame with a leather head and a tuning system, and supplied with its beater. The eagle is the spirit of vision and the high view in shamanic tradition, the messenger between earth and sky, and the drum made in its name is used for journeying and for the rhythms that lift rather than settle. The large head gives deep, resonant tones that carry across a room, soft enough for a meditation when played gently and loud enough for a ceremony or a circle when driven. Tuning is the practical point: the skin tightens or slackens with a turn, so the drum keeps its voice through damp winters and warm studios where fixed drums go flat or shrill. It is held comfortably for long sessions at 856g and hangs on a wall as a painted piece between them. Made in Indonesia.
Acacia wood frame, leather head, rubber tuning, with beater. 40.5 x 40.5 x 6cm. Weighs 856g. From Indonesia.
