Standard tarot structure under the dark artwork
Requiem Arcana is a 78-card tarot deck illustrated by Vera Petruk, the Russian artist whose skeleton figures have become a style of their own. Every card is a skeleton in the role of the traditional figure, the Empress on her throne, the Hanged Man by his foot, drawn in fine ink with a dark, slightly Victorian palette. It is macabre, and it is also elegant, and that balance is why it sells.
The deck follows the standard Rider-Waite structure, so every tarot guide applies and a reader can move to it from any other deck without relearning. The guidebook in the box gives the meaning of each card upright and reversed.
It is the deck for a Samhain reading, a gothic shelf or anyone who finds the usual pastel decks too sweet. Boxed, so it gives well. At 250g it is a solid deck that shuffles with a little weight.
Paper. 12 x 7 x 4cm. Weighs 250g.
