The large 14cm bowl for a shared altar
A smudge and offerings bowl carved from mango wood with a Buddha on its face, the large 14cm size. The warm, natural wood gives an altar a calm, grounded feel that metal and stone do not, and the Buddha makes it the bowl for a meditation corner or a shared practice space.
It is a working bowl. Rest a smudge stick across it while it smoulders and the ash falls inside, or use it to hold loose herbs, resin, salt or small offerings on the altar. The smooth inside wipes clean, and between rituals it makes a dish for stones or rings.
Mango wood is a natural hardwood, so each bowl has its own grain. The small 12cm version suits a bedside or a travelling kit.
Mango wood. 14 x 7cm. Weighs 180g. From India.
