Wooden Smudge Bowl - Three Moons - Small

A small mango wood bowl carved with the three moons, waxing, full and waning, 12cm across and 7cm tall, made for the altar: a smudge stick rests in it while it smoulders, the ash falls into it, and between smudgings it holds salt, herbs, tumble stones or an offering. The triple moon is the symbol of the Goddess in her three aspects and of the lunar cycle, so this is the bowl for a Goddess-centred or moon-following practice, and the small size suits a bedside altar, a desk or a travelling kit, where the large bowls would crowd the space. The organic look of the wood gives an altar a grounded, serene feel. Mango wood is dense and warm, cut sustainably from orchard trees past fruiting, and the carving is done by hand in India, so each bowl carries its own grain and the moons vary a little. At 107g it is light and steady. The large three moons bowl on the same shelf is 14cm.
