Wooden Smudge Bowl - Tree of Life - Small

A small mango wood bowl carved with the Tree of Life, 12cm across and 7cm tall, made for the altar: a smudge stick rests in it while it smoulders, the ash falls into it, and between smudgings it holds salt, herbs, tumble stones or an offering. The Tree of Life is the symbol of growth and connection in almost every tradition, so the bowl suits any practice, and the small size makes it the one for a bedside altar, a desk, a windowsill or a travelling kit, where the large bowls would take over. A tree carved in wood is the most natural pairing on the shelf, and the organic look of mango wood gives even a small altar a grounded, serene feel. The wood is dense and warm, cut sustainably from orchard trees past fruiting, and the carving is done by hand in India, so each bowl has its own grain and the tree varies a little. At 107g it is light and steady. The large Tree of Life bowl on the same shelf is 14cm.
