Amethyst - 160 Stone

An Indian gemstone tree of 160 amethyst chips, each hand-wired onto a metal branch, the branches gathered into a trunk and mounted on a base of gemstone rock, 20.5cm tall and 300g. It is the taller, simpler cousin of the orgonite and ring trees: real stone on a real stone base, nothing cast, nothing carved, the tree standing on a rough chunk of mineral the way a tree stands on a hill. Amethyst is the stone of calm, clear thinking and protection in crystal practice, and the purple tree is traditionally placed in a bedroom, a study or a room where tempers run short. The branches bend gently, so the canopy is arranged rather than fixed, and the maker's suggestion holds: collect the different stones and build a gem forest on a windowsill, a tree in every colour, none of which needs watering or pruning. Handmade in India from natural stone, so the purple and the base vary from tree to tree.
