Fortune Cats Playing & Oracle Cards - Maneki Neko Deck

Fortune Cats is a 54-card deck that works two ways: as an ordinary pack of playing cards, with the usual suits and jokers, and as an oracle deck, with every card carrying a beckoning cat and a short fortune. The cats are the maneki-neko of Japanese folklore, the raised-paw figures in shop windows that call in luck and customers, and the cards are drawn in soft pastels with torii gates, lanterns and cherry blossom around them. Play rummy with it on a wet afternoon, or pull one card in the morning for the day's message; the deck does both, and that is the point of it. The cards are printed on smooth stock that shuffles well and come in an illustrated tuck box, 9 by 6cm, small enough for a pocket. At three pounds it is the easiest gift in the shop for a cat person, a Japan person or a child learning to play cards.
