A seated Buddha in rose quartz, carved from a single piece of the soft pink stone, 5cm tall and 26g in the hand. The trade calls this the large size; in practice it is a pocket and desk figure, the kind that sits on a laptop stand, a bedside, or in a bowl of tumbles as the one piece with a face. Rose quartz is cloudy rather than clear, so the figure glows softly instead of glinting, and the pink varies from a faint blush to a definite rose from carving to carving. In crystal practice rose quartz is the stone of love and gentleness, and a Buddha of it is the figure people give to someone who needs looking after. The carving shows the robe's folds and a calm face, and it stands on its own base.
Rose quartz. 5 x 4 x 2cm. Weighs 26g.
