Rose quartz is the pink member of the quartz family, coloured by microscopic mineral fibres through the crystal. It almost never forms visible crystal points — it comes out of the ground in solid mass, which is why you see it carved into hearts, spheres and palm stones rather than clusters.
What rose quartz is used for
This is the stone every tradition hands to matters of the heart: love, self-worth, tenderness, grief. Less about romance than the whole territory — people buy it as often after a loss or a hard year as for a wedding. It sits with the heart chakra and with Taurus and Libra.
A palm stone earns its keep here: the point of rose quartz is holding it. Keep one where you sit in the evening. It is also the most-given stone in the shop — a safe first gift when you don't know someone's taste.
How to care for it
Rinse under water; recharge in soft morning light. Like amethyst, its colour fades with long sun exposure — a windowsill will pale it over a summer.
