Rhodonite is a manganese silicate in rose pink veined with black — the name is from the Greek for rose, and the black manganese-oxide veins are its signature: rose quartz never has them. Russia mined it for the tsars' palaces; small carved pieces of it circulated as tokens of steadfast affection.
What rhodonite is used for
The tradition calls it the rescue stone: first aid for the heart — forgiveness, the mending of quarrels, and compassion with a spine. Where rose quartz is tenderness, rhodonite is repair. Heart chakra, and the stone most often recommended after a falling-out.
Given as often as kept — a rhodonite piece after a mended quarrel is an old and rather good custom.
