A dragon's head carved from sodalite, the deep blue stone with pale white marbling, and here the white runs through the scales and across the brow like weather over a night sky. The carving is 6cm long and 26g, detailed enough to show the horns, the ridges and the open mouth, and it sits in the hand or on a desk as a small, striking piece. Sodalite is often mistaken for lapis but has no gold pyrite; its blue goes to indigo and the marbling is its signature.
