Sodalite is a royal-blue mineral veined with white calcite, often mistaken for lapis — the reliable difference is that sodalite lacks the golden pyrite flecks. Most of the world's supply comes out of Ontario and Brazil, and it is one of the most affordable of the deep blue stones, which has made it the working reader's lapis.
What sodalite is used for
The tradition splits it evenly between head and voice: logic and intuition, clear thought and calm speech. It is recommended to writers, teachers and anyone who thinks out loud for a living. Throat chakra, with a foothold at the third eye.
Desk stone, meeting-room pocket stone. If lapis is the stone for saying the true thing, sodalite is the stone for finding out what you actually think first.
