Sixty amethyst chips wired in copper onto branches that grow from inside a carved mango wood ring, so the purple canopy is framed by a circle of warm wood. Amethyst is the stone of calm, clear thinking and protection in crystal practice, and a tree of it is traditionally placed where a room needs settling: a bedroom, a study, a therapy room, a desk where the work is hard. The ring is carved by hand, the chips are natural stone, and the copper wire is wound by hand, so every tree differs in the depth of its purple and the spread of its branches, and the branches can be bent gently to arrange the canopy. At 17.5cm and 350g it is a substantial desk or shelf piece, and the ring means it stands without a base. The mango wood is sustainably sourced from orchards past their fruiting years. Handmade in India and shipped boxed, so it is a present without any wrapping.
