The candle for a man who would never buy himself one
Ash and Woodsmoke is the Greenman Rituals candle that smells of a forest after fire: smoky warmth over earthy depth, charred wood and damp ground, softened by soy wax and the gentle crackle of a wooden wick. It is hand-poured into a green glass jar with a cork lid, labelled with paper and cornstarch rather than plastic, and it burns for around 26 hours, so it is a small candle with a long evening in it. The scent is the one for autumn, for the witchcraft shelf, for Samhain and for anyone who finds floral candles too sweet; lit on a dark afternoon it does what a wood stove does for a room that has no fireplace. Soy wax burns cool and clean, and the cork lid keeps the scent between burns. Greenman Rituals is a small British maker, and the whole thing weighs 80g, which makes it the stocking-filler candle for a man who would not buy himself one.
Soy wax, wooden wick, green glass jar, cork lid, paper and cornstarch label. About 26 hours. 9 x 7cm. Weighs 80g.
