Burn a pinch on charcoal or press your own cones
Holy basil incense powder, 100g, from Bali. Holy basil is tulsi, the plant sacred to Vishnu that grows in a pot in the courtyard of Hindu homes across India and is offered at the household shrine every morning; as incense it is herbal, green and a little peppery, closer to a garden than a temple. The powder is bamboo wood ground fine and bound with fragrance, and it burns three ways: a pinch on a hot charcoal disc, a trail in a heatproof dish lit at one end, or pressed into a mould for a homemade cone. It is the least common of the incense powders we stock and the one people come back for, because it smells like nothing else on the shelf. Used in tradition to purify a space and steady the mind before prayer or yoga.
