Cool greys for a calm, neutral room
Six large tumbled grey agate stones from Botswana, each 30 to 50mm, polished smooth, banded in cool grey-blue wrapped with fine lines of white, deep brown and black. Botswana agate is the most finely banded of the agates, and the large size is where the banding shows: each stone has its own set of rings and loops, like a cross-section of a tree, and no two in the pack match. In crystal practice agate is the stone of balance and patience and Botswana agate in particular is read as a comforting stone, the one held during a hard conversation or a long wait, and the size suits that, a stone to turn over in the hand. The six make a bowl, a row on a windowsill or a grid, and they suit a grey or neutral room where brighter stones would clash. Natural stone, so the bands and tones differ from the photograph. Among the quietest and most handsome tumbles on the shelf.
