A large box-shaped oil burner in mango wood, 12.5cm each way, with a Buddha carved into the front panel and a brass knob on the little door that opens to take the tea light. Oil or a wax melt goes in the dish set into the top, the candle heats it from inside, and the warm light shows through the carved panel while it burns. A wooden oil burner is quieter and warmer-looking than ceramic and sits well on a side table, a bookshelf or a bedside. The Buddha is carved by hand in India, so each face differs a little, and the mango wood is cut from orchard trees that have stopped bearing fruit, which makes it a sustainable timber. The dish lifts out for cleaning. It makes a calm, inexpensive gift for someone building a meditation corner, with a bottle of oil alongside.
