An elephant carved through mango wood becomes a small lantern

The symbol of wisdom and good fortune glowing on a shelf
- 12.5cm cube of mango wood
- An elephant carved through the front panel
- Brass-knobbed door for the tea light
- Dish on top for fragrance oil or a wax melt

Oil or a wax melt in the dish set into the top
The elephant version of the large mango wood box burner: a 12.5cm cube with an elephant carved through the front panel, a brass knob on the door for the tea light and a dish set into the top for fragrance oil or a wax melt. Lit, the candle inside throws its glow out through the carving, and the elephant, the symbol of wisdom, strength and good fortune across India and Thailand, becomes a small lantern. It is the burner people choose for a hallway or a child's room, where the figure matters more than the scent. Hand-carved in India, so no two elephants match exactly, and made from mango wood taken from orchards once the trees stop fruiting. The dish lifts out to wipe clean, and the door latches shut. Works equally well with a wax melt dropped in dry or a few drops of oil in water.
