Twenty-four from Peru for a soft, coastal bowl
Twenty-four Peruvian opal tumbles. This is the common opal of the Andes rather than the fiery opal of a jeweller's window: a soft, opaque stone in milky blues and sea greens, occasionally pink, with a glow like sea glass. It takes a high polish, so each tumble has a wet-pebble shine.
There are twenty-four stones in the pack, each roughly 20 to 30mm and tumbled to a smooth polish. Twenty-four is the working quantity: enough for a bowl that looks generous, a crystal grid with spares, a workshop or a class, or a jar of small gifts for a party.
In crystal practice Peruvian opal is read as a calming stone for the heart and for gentle communication. It is scarcer than most tumbles, and the colour varies from stone to stone.
Gemstone. Pack of 24. About 20 to 30mm each. From Peru.
