- Fits where the 40cm stand is too tall
Takes a church candle or a wide pillar
The medium turquoise and gold candle stand, 34cm tall, hand-carved from albesia wood in Indonesia and painted with gold detail worked into the turned, ornate stem. It takes a church candle or a wide pillar of 6 to 8cm, and at this height it suits a sideboard, a hall table or a windowsill where the 40cm stand would be too tall. The turquoise and gold is the Balinese palette, slightly faded and sunlit, and it brings colour to a neutral room in a way a plain candlestick does not. Albesia is a light, fast-growing plantation timber, so the stand weighs 310g and moves easily, and it is carved and painted by hand, with the brushwork showing. Bought alone, or with the large stand in the same colour for a stepped pair that frames a fireplace or a mirror. A long-lasting alternative to the glass and metal candle holders that get knocked over.
Albesia wood, hand-carved and painted. 12 x 12 x 34cm. Weighs 310g. From Indonesia.
