The medium white and gold candle stand, 34cm tall, carved by hand from albesia wood in Indonesia and painted soft white with gold rubbed into the carved stem for an aged, slightly faded finish. It holds a church candle or a wide pillar of 6 to 8cm, and it is the height for a sideboard, a mantel, a bedside or the end of a dining table, with the flame raised above the clutter but not towering. White and gold is the colourway for weddings, christenings and pale rooms, and a pair of these stands is a classic table centre that goes home afterwards and stays in use. Albesia is a quick-growing plantation wood, light at 310g and sustainable. The carving and paintwork are done by hand, so each stand differs a little. It pairs with the large white and gold stand for a stepped pair, or stands alone with a single thick ivory candle.
