The desk-corner Buddha for a meditator who still has to work
A ceramic incense plate in matt black, with a seated Buddha in a prayer pose at the centre of a smooth circular dish and holders built into the plate for both sticks and cones. The matt finish absorbs light rather than reflecting it, so the piece reads as a small sculpture rather than a glazed ornament, and it suits the monochrome, minimal rooms where the painted terracotta and soft red versions would look busy. In use it takes a stick upright in its hole, with the dish catching the full length of ash, or a cone burning on the flat, and it wipes clean with a cloth; black hides ash between emptyings. The Buddha in prayer is the calm centre of a meditation corner or a desk, and the plate is the one piece of incense kit that does every job. A clean, modern gift for someone starting a practice.
Ceramic, matt black. Holders for sticks and cones.
