Formed by nature, so no two towers are alike
The large natural selenite tower, a column of Moroccan selenite about 20cm tall, cut from a single piece and left with its fibrous surface as the crystal grew. At this height it is a centrepiece: set it on a mantelpiece or the centre of a crystal grid, put a lamp or a window behind it, and the light travels up the fibres so the whole tower seems lit from inside.
Selenite takes its name from Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, and the way its milky fibres carry light explains why. It is a soft, translucent form of gypsum, so keep it dry and dust it with a cloth rather than washing it. In crystal practice it is the cleansing stone, linked with the crown chakra, and it is often used to clear other crystals placed beside it.
Each tower is formed by nature, so the grain, the glow and the exact shape are unique to the one that arrives.
