Palo Santo Large Incense Sticks - Bergamot

Large palo santo incense sticks scented with bergamot, made in Peru from the holy wood itself. Palo santo, Bursera graveolens, is the South American tree whose fallen wood is burned for cleansing in the Andes and along the Peruvian coast, with a sweet, resinous, slightly citrus smoke of its own. These sticks take the ground wood and add bergamot, the bright, bitter-orange note of Earl Grey tea, so the smoke is lifted and brightened without losing the woody base. The sticks are 20cm long and thick, a pack weighs 20g, and each burns for well over an hour, which is far longer than a standard incense stick. Burn one in a holder or stand it in sand; the ash is soft. For anyone who likes palo santo but finds the plain wood too heavy, bergamot is the lightest of the blends.
