Dry, herbal and a little camphorous
Californian white sage backflow cones, plant-based, made in India for use on backflow burners. White sage is the cleansing herb of Native American smudging, burned to clear a space of stale energy, and in a backflow cone the smoke falls down the burner and gathers at the base, so the clearing is something to watch as well as smell: herbal, dry, a little camphorous. The cones are made with plant-based binders rather than synthetic resin and are the cheapest in the range, which makes them the pack most people try first. Each cone burns for around 15 minutes and the pack weighs 38g. They are hollow and sized for backflow burners, where the smoke drops through the centre; on a plain dish they burn fine but the smoke rises. For a real sage bundle, see the smudge sticks; this is the easier, tidier version.
