Twenty-four small banded amethyst tumbles, grade A, around 13g each. Grade A is the deeper purple, with white quartz banding that cuts cleanly through it in stripes and chevrons, and at this size the bands run right across the stone so every tumble is a tiny slice of the pattern. Small tumbles are the ones that get used: in jewellery, in resin, scattered into a candle, dropped in a plant pot, kept in a pocket. A bag of twenty-four is enough for all of that and some left for a bowl. The colour and banding vary from stone to stone, and that variety is the appeal. Amethyst is the stone of calm and clear thinking in crystal practice, and the small banded ones are the classic pocket stone.
